Sometimes it is the simplest adjustments to a product that make it infinitely better.  Consider the Whoopee Cushion.  Not much to alter, you may think. You blow it up, hide it on the chair of your stooge and giggle like crazy at the resulting noises.  No, the Whoopee Cushion is the perfect novelty item.

You may be right in your general assertion, and I would have agreed with you.  Until yesterday.

Yesterday, my daughter went to a birthday party and brought home a Whoopee Cushion with a difference.

It is self-inflating.  A simple tweak that is pure genius!  Now, my kids can amuse themselves making all the outrageous noises they want.  And they don't have to ask me to blow the thing up for them!  That's the genius part, by the way.  Some bright spark has come up with a simple way of allowing kids to have all the fun without the constant intervention of their parents.

I love it so much, I here is a picture of it.

The lesson, if there is one, is that no matter how perfect you think your product is, it is always worth taking the time to revisit the design.  For a few extra pennies on the production costs, a clever minor adjustment or two can make your product truly remarkable.

Would you buy a Whoopee Cushion you had to inflate yourself?
