Normally we would never dream of blowing our own trumpets, but this falls squarely in the 'You heard it here first' category.
It looks like T-Mobile will be the first European carrier to offer the i-Phone when it eventually hits the market. This ties in neatly with our prediction that the i-Phone will only be
available on selected carriers, and our earlier analysis that of all
the European carriers, only T-Mobile is in a position to offer
meaningful services for such devices.
It is worth noting that the article goes on to state that "Online video sites that sell shows and movies such as Apple Inc.'s
iTunes will likely peak this year as more programming is made available
on free outlets supported by advertising, claims the latest study from
Forrester Research."
So what will the i-Phone actually offer T-Mobile, apart from a high-margin handset? That much is unclear. If you want a further prediction, here it is. The i-Phone will sell like hotcakes to Europe's Apple bigots who will quickly become frustrated with the sevices on offer and the predictably poor battery life. After the hype, expect a period of reconcilliation in the market, but don't be surprised if our friends from Finland eventually come up with a true market leading handset.
